Mexico has raised alot of eyebrows by being 6th in the FIFA world rankings and have only made it to the QF's when it hosted WC's '70 & '86.

Mexico has not really done well in Europe and coach Ricardo LaVolpe leaving out Blanco cause he "doesn't fit into his scheme" was really bogus and will to fight really hard to make it out of Group D!!

I think mexico is maybe not one of the favorites to win the cup, but in some way i'm expecting them to get a good place in the cup this time...

Sad news out of the Mexico camp!!

The father of Mexico goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez died on Wednesday of a heart attack, leaving his son's status for the World Cup uncertain.
Felipe Sanchez died in Guadalajara, team spokesman Juan Jose Kochen said. He was 52!!

Team officials met early Thursday morning at their hotel to determine whether Sanchez would be available for Mexico's World Cup opener on Sunday against Iran in Nuremberg.
Sanchez had been expected to start.
Coach Ricardo Lavolpe has two other keepers on the roster, Jesus Corona and Guillermo Ochoa, but neither has much international experience.

Hate to say this, but compared to the backups Corona and Ochoa...I'd rather see Assistant coach Jorge Campos put the gloves back on than those 2!! Tongue

RE: Mexico

Hugo Sanchez has been appointed the El Tri's new coach. He replaces Ricardo La Volpe, who's back in Argentina coaching Boca Juniors. Maybe he could end up somersaulting the El Tri to the Copa next yearTongue
